Update KJ Den Haag #9: highest point and facade becoming visible

The first highest point has been reached
Earlier this month, we celebrated reaching the highest point of the Park Tower. With the placement of the final steel structure, we reached a height of nearly 93 meters! Meanwhile, work on the 27th floor of the Station Tower is progressing rapidly. After the summer holidays, we’ll be able to celebrate the highest point there as well.
The final façade is becoming visible
Most of the façade is still black for now—that’s the waterproof membrane. But on the Rijnstraat side, we’re slowly starting to see what KJ The Hague will actually look like. There, we’ve begun installing the concrete fluted elements and balconies. Part of the façade is being mounted at night.
Busy times next door
KJ The Hague is being built right up against the Stichthage building. That’s why the station building is also getting a new façade on its lower two floors. One by one, we’re replacing the existing storefronts with the new façade. To ensure safe working conditions, one of the two entrances is currently closed. We expect to finish in the beginning of the fourth quarter, after which that entrance will reopen. To replace the final section of the Stichthage façade, the other entrance will then be closed. The bicycle parking will remain open throughout; more on that later.
City entrance gets attention
Upon completion, the wooden ceiling beneath the building will be a true eye-catcher. But there’s still a lot to be done before we get there. If you peek over the construction fence, you’ll see the outlines of the shops slowly taking shape. In the first section, we’re now putting the finishing touches on the installations. Shortly after the summer holidays, we’ll begin constructing the wooden ceiling.
