With this newsletter, we want to give you an update on the sustainable remodelling of the office building for the Goede Doelen Loterijen (Nationale Postcode Loterij BankGiro Loterij and Vrienden Loterij) on the Prinses Irenestraat.
The current state of the construction process
The outlines of the building are starting to become quite clear. At the moment, we are conducting the final activities on the (wooden) CLT roof and the 184 roof windows, which will be installed in the finished steel framework.
With this, we will create another floor on top of the existing building.
On this third floor, we are hard at work to finish the wooden (HSB) walls, which are mounted onto the steel framework on all sides. We are also covering the entire roof with roofing material. By mid-December, all this work will result in a fully wind- and waterproof building.
We are also starting our finishing work on the building’s interior and parts of the exterior. One of the most eye-catching features of this project is its characteristic canopy roof.
By now, the construction process has reached a stage in which we will no longer require a tower crane. It will be taken down on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 November. We want to keep any hindrance to the surrounding schools, businesses, church, other contractors and residents to a minimum, so we will begin this work around 4 PM on Friday 24 November. The crane will be gone by 7 PM on Saturday 25 November.
During this entire time, the Prinses Irenestraat will be closed off to motor vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians near the construction site. Signs will be placed to mark detours for all traffic streams. The Thomaskerk and the Citizen M hotel will still be accessible to pedestrians.
Limited activities during the holiday period
We will conduct no or very few construction activities between Monday 25 December and Monday 8 January 2018. During this time, J.P. van Eesteren will take additional security measures at the construction site to prevent break-ins.
